This quilt was created during the course leader training of the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e. V. In the “Design of modern quilts” module with lecturer Gabriele Schultz-Herzberger, we discussed the most important features of modern quilts and designed and sewed a quilt top ourselves using the free cutting technique. The central elements on the front and back are a medallion, which I accentuated with a machine-quilted spiral. This form of quilting makes the quilt softer than, say, tight straight line quilting, allowing me to accomplish the task of sewing a utility quilt.
