The hand sewing of blocks of patchwork from individual shapes created by basting pieces of fabric around paper templates is called English paper piecing.
The argyle quilt by Katja Marek from her book “The New Hexagon 2” is a particularly beautiful project because it contains a variety of shapes and has a modern feel. The quilt will be 48 x 63 inches.
