Moda Charm Pack “Confection Batiks”

This Charm Pack from Moda features 40 beautiful fabric squares from the “Confection Batiks” collection by Kate Spain, who visited the small island of Block Island with her family as a little girl and still remembers the candy store “Harbour Sweets” with the dark wooden floor and shelves full of jars filled with the most delicious sweets. “Confection Batiks” shows the versatile mixture of candy colors of blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, mint, currant, lime and melon in its colorful splendor. Batik is an originally Indonesian reserve technique printing process in which wax is first applied with stamps. These areas are then left out during the actual dyeing process, so that the actual pattern appears negative. Batik fabrics feel a little different than conventional cotton fabrics and have a delicate smell of wax. After the first wash, this special papery feel wears off. Batik fabrics have a very special luminosity that makes them so popular.
